One last thought…the world of medical aesthetics is a fast-moving blur of the newest best treatment (over and over). In 2009, Ultherapy received its first FDA approval for skin tightening on the face; it has been imitated, but never eclipsed. That says alot!
Ultherapy treatment is not a substitute for a surgical facelift, but is an option for those not interested in or ready for surgery.
What is the Ultherapy procedure?
During Ultherapy treatment, the skin is cleansed, and ultrasound gel is applied to the target area. The Ultherapy handpiece is placed on the skin, delivering low-level focused energy as it moves over the target area.
Does an Ultherapy treatment hurt?
Mild discomfort may be experienced as the energy creates heat beneath the skin. Discomfort levels vary from patient to patient, and on the area being treated. We provide nitrous oxide and topical numbing in order to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.
How long does an Ultherapy treatment take?
Time required depends on the area(s) being treated. Ask us how much time to set aside when you schedule your treatment.
What are the results of an Ultherapy treatment?
Ultherapy treatment is used on mildly to moderately loose or sagging skin on the face and neck. Results, however, vary from patient to patient, and on the condition and quality of the skin being treated.
Treatment that “lifts” the brow also reduces excess skin on the eyelids, making the eyes look more open. Treatment that lifts and tightens sagging skin on the lower face, neck, and under the chin eliminates or reduces a double chin or jowls.
How long before I see results?
Although some patients may see immediate improvement, results of Ultherapy treatment are usually not apparent until 2 to 3 months after the treatment. During that time, old collagen is replaced with new, more elastic collagen. At 6 months, full benefits are generally attained, although some patients continue to see improvement out to 1 year. Most patients need only one treatment, but those with significant issues may require more. Many patients come back for additional treatments a year or 2 later to “refresh” their appearance.
What are the side effects of Ultherapy treatment?
Side effects of Ultherapy treatment are usually minor and temporary, and limited to the treatment area, including:
- Slight redness
- Slight swelling
- Tingling
- Tenderness
- Mild bruising
